As part of his Rainforest Expedition and Laboratory Course, Professor Strobel leads Yale undergraduates on two-week trips to the Amazon rainforest. There the students collect plant samples to use in isolating novel microorganisms during their summer lab research back in New Haven. Professor Strobel will describe his course as well as student discoveries such as a fungi that can eat plastic and organisms that can produce new antibiotics. (Lecture 18)
